Dan and Shiuli are both management trainees in a Delhi hotel. She is bright and lovely. He is sweet and a little strange. We are never told too much about the extent of their friendship. Yet, a freak accident during an office party alters their lives forever. October is unlike director Shoojit Sircar and writer Juhi Chaturvedi’s previous collaborations like Piku and Vicky Donor – this has a meditative tonality. 

Varun Dhawan as Dan was an unusual casting choice that paid off. British-Indian model Banita Sandhu as Shiuli made an assured debut in the film. The real stand-out performance was by Gitanjali Rao who played Shiuli’s mother.
